With the number of vegans rising 360% in the UK from 2006 to 2016, Proudly Vegan has been Launched to meet a growing demand for consumers looking for wines free from animal products, a trend also mirrored across North America where vegan food and drink launches grew by 88% between 2013 and 2017 (Source: Mintel 2018)
Making its debut at Prowein 2018 and recently launched in Ocado,
Proudly Vegan was developed by Broadlands to target the ‘Live better/Live Kindly’ ethical consumer. A wine range developed to be 100% vegan from grape to bottle, development required particular focus not only the wine itself but the packaging and design sourcing vegan adhesives, inks and label substrate. The design concept was developed to ensure full transparency across the range; clearly labelled, easily identified while still maintaining a beautiful design aesthetic.
Registered with the
UK Vegan Society, Proudly doesn’t claim to be the first Vegan wine, but it is the first wine that 100% vegan friendly, right down to the ink and the glue.

Broadland’s winemaker and Master of Wine, Dr Arabella Woodrow, explains
“We have focused on the quality of the wine – there is no reason why vegans shouldn’t enjoy great tasting wine at a sensible price. Chilean Sauvignon and Merlot are great starting points as we wanted a wine that consumers are already familiar with – more varietals will be added soon.”
